The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a new, national program that is helping make the cost of dental care more affordable for Canadian residents. If you have coverage through the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program and meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for the CDCP, however, both programs are currently offering similar levels of coverage and services.
If you are enrolled in both programs, a change from what you're used to is that NIHB will become the 1st payer, and CDCP becomes the "payer of last resort".
Check out the attached posters to learn more about the similarities and differences for these 2 programs!
