Fisheries Survey 2009
Prior to the10th anniversary of the landmark Marshall Supreme Court of Canada decision the APC/FKN engaged in a study we hoped would become a report card on the progress the First Nations of the region have made to date in the fisheries. The survey we sent out to communities focused on Atlantic First Nations' participation in fisheries since 1999 and allowed us to measure the changes since becoming engaged in communal commercial fisheries. The results of the study concluded gains have been made but there are still many outstanding issues which need to be addressed by the Government of Canada.
