Work Plans

The 2008-2009 Implementation Work Plan for the APC Regional Economy Rebuilding Strategy, is comprised of four mains goals, with assigned committees. 

Each goal has a list of actions, broken down into specific tasks to complete, in order to meet the objectives by the first year. 

Main Goals 

Goal 1: To increase Aboriginal control of land, resources and property throughout Atlantic Canada.

  • Assigned to the Lands and Resources Committee
  • Year One Objective: Increase Land Holdings of Atlantic First Nation communities by 10% 

Goal 2: To strengthen Aboriginal Peoples businesses so that ownership, income, and employment from businesses are comparable to non-Aboriginal rates.  

  • Assigned to the Strengthening Aboriginal Businesses Committee
  • Year One Objective: Develop or expand 50 Aboriginal businesses  

Goal 3: To develop a skilled Aboriginal workforce that can fully participate in the regional economy.

  • Assigned to the Skilled Aboriginal Workforce Committee
  • Year One Objectives: Increase jobs by 200 spaces (outside band structure); Reduce number of people on social assistance by 5% 

Goal 4: To establish and maintain sound baseline information on the Atlantic Aboriginal economy, to provide evidence of progress and opportunity.

  • Assigned to the Baseline Information Committee
  • Year One Objective: A profile and marketing strategy in each First Nation community. 

NOTE:  This committee/work is on hold temporarily until the Baseline Data Study advisory committee for the AAEDIRP is clarified, so as avoid duplication.
