Housing

The AFNHIN Housing Sub-committee works in partnership with the Atlantic First Nations Housing representatives, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Department of Indian Affairs & Northern Development (INAC) and Health Canada whose mandate is to provide quality advice and strategic direction on First Nation housing programming in the Atlantic Region. The Committee also provides advice on joint CMHC/INAC/Health Canada assisted initiatives, and advice on other aspects of First Nation housing within the mandate of CMHC, INAC and Health Canada.

The purpose of the AFNHIN Housing Sub-committee is to discuss and develop strategies that will address housing issues which affect First Nation communities, by coordination and representation of appropriate key stakeholders regarding First Nation housing, as well as making recommendations and sharing best practises to improve the design, delivery and implementation of CMHC and INAC housing programs.
