Emergency Management

The purpose of the First Nation Emergency Management committee is to establish a foundation, foster linkages and partnerships with key contributors to develop and ensure a strong Emergency Management & Response planning forum to assist First Nations in preparing robust all hazards EPR plans.

This will include developing a multi-layered strategy and adopts an all-hazards First Nation approach that will address both natural and human related hazards and disasters. It will involve and require the support from various key contributors - First Nations, federal/provincial government departments and agencies, municipal/county government representatives and others.

The committee's key priority areas will involve Emergency management planning, mitigation, preparedness, response & recovery; as well as capacity building for First Nation's communities, educating and raising awareness for First Nations leaders and community members, and developing a list of potential risks, including identifying specific training requirements.
