The Chiefs are aware of the growing concern over climate change due to global warming and the impact it has on culture, traditional practices and lifestyles of First Nation in the Atlantic .
APC has demonstrated commitment in the education, awareness and understanding of Climate Change by hosting an Atlantic Fist Nations Forum "Taking Action for the Future Generations" on April 22 & 23, 2003 which brought in knowledgeable people who are aware and understand the impact of Climate Change on the Earth. We invited Mi'kmaq, Maliseet and Passamaquoddy Leader & Elder, as well as Government Departments and Key Stakeholders to give the technical and traditional knowledge of how greenhouse gases are an on climate change.
What is Climate Change? Climate change refers to the variation in the Earth's global climate or regional climates over time. It describes changes in the variability or average state of the atmosphere - or average weather - over time scales ranging from decades to millions of years. These changes may come from internal processes, be driven by external forces or, most recently, be caused by human activities.
